The puck drops on a new NHL season on Tuesday, and the New York Rangers are one of the first teams in action when they host the Pittsburgh Penguins.

The Rangers are coming off a disappointing season. They finished with a 39-36-7 record. Those 85 points had them 11th in the Eastern Conference and six points behind Montreal, which claimed the final wild card playoff spot in the conference.

The big change of the offseason for the Blueshirts came behind the bench. Peter Laviolette is out, and he’s been replaced by Mike Sullivan. Sullivan won two Stanley Cups with the Penguins in 2016 and 2017.
