Every other year for the last decade, the Conservatives have been coming to Manchester for the annual party conference.

But this year, there first time back in the city since losing power at the general election, it's been a much quieter affair - in more ways than one.

The Manchester Central Convention Complex, which hosts the four-day event, is far less busy than it used to be when the party was in government, as you'd probably expect.

Even in the dying days of the Tories' reign, Labour's party conference was the place to be. But it seems that attendance is even lower than many expected with reports of empty bars with no queues on Sunday (October 5).
