A vulnerable man ‘kidnapped’ and ‘viciously’ attacked after a money lender sought to enforce a debt died from his injuries almost two months later, a murder trial heard.

Jason Wadsworth and Jemma Marshall, both 37, are on trial accused of the murder of 45-year-old Martin Shaw. They have both pleaded not guilty.

Jurors at Manchester Crown Court were told that Mr Shaw, a drug addict, owed money to Ms Marshall, who was said to have been a ‘money lender’.

She allegedly ‘recruited’ Jason Wadsworth to ‘enforce that debt’, prosecutor Richard Littler KC said.

Ms Marshall pulled over in her Audi A3 and stopped Mr Shaw 'in his tracks', as he walked down the street in Oldham at about 9.30pm on September 10, 2023, jurors heard.
