Panaji: The state government has begun implementing the Goa vehicle authentication system (GoVA) at border check posts to detect and penalise traffic violations more efficiently.

The proposal, approved by the cabinet last month, is now moving into its execution phase.

Senior officials from the Transport Department and other relevant agencies recently held a review meeting to finalise the rollout strategy.

As part of the first phase, GoVA kicked in at the Mollem check post from midnight on October 7. The system will automatically generate e-challans for traffic offences, which will be sent via SMS to the vehicle owner’
