Early October ushers in several popular hunting seasons here in the Buckeye State. For example, turkeys of either sex may be hunted in 70 counties beginning October 1 through October 26, while ruffed grouse may be pursued from October 12-November 7 in 17 Ohio counties. Young waterfowlers get a jump on the regular season on October 5-6 in the Lake Erie Waterfowl Zone, October 12-13 in the North Zone and October 19-20 in the South Zone.
