A Calgary woman is asking for the public's assistance in locating her sister, who has been missing since June. Deeanna Erickson, 31, was last seen on June 6 around 11 p.m. after she exited the route 162 bus near Walden.

Following her disappearance, the Calgary Police Service reached out to anyone who may have interacted with Deeanna between 9 and 11 p.m. that night or who used transit in the area during that time. However, the investigation has not yielded significant leads.

"This is still very much an open and active investigation," a police spokesperson stated. "The investigators are really relying on people to come forward if they haven’t already, but at this time, Deeanna is still considered missing, and we are still looking for her."

Currently, police have not confirmed whether foul play is suspected in her case. Deeanna's sister, Shelby Erickson, described the months since Deeanna's disappearance as a nightmare.

"I’m so stressed out, and just overwhelmed," Shelby said. She is actively working to ensure her sister is found.

"They did a ground search, but they weren’t able to do any water areas," Shelby explained. "I have reached out to the fishing companies that go up the Bow River. I sent them her missing poster and just asked if they could keep an eye out on the river. If we reach out to more people, maybe we could get more help."

Shelby was out of town when her sister went missing and learned of the situation through a phone call from Deeanna's landlord. "Her landlord called me and said that she didn’t come home," Shelby recalled. "She had her bird at home, and her bird is her everything — she would never just leave her alone."

On the night of her disappearance, surveillance footage tracked Deeanna from the Marlborough CTrain station to the Somerset station, where she typically caught a bus home. She was seen asking a bus driver about the schedule but then boarded the wrong bus.

Shelby expressed concern that Deeanna may have been under the influence that night. "Then they have her holding her head, rocking back and forth, and she was crying," she said. Later, the bus stopped at another location, and Deeanna abruptly got off, after which she was not seen again.

Deeanna has struggled with addiction throughout her life. However, Shelby noted that Deeanna had recently entered a treatment facility and achieved sobriety before her disappearance. Deeanna had an adult guardian and relied on support workers due to her Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder (FASD), which helped her manage daily tasks.

Shelby mentioned that Deeanna had been removed from the program and was on a waiting list for another treatment facility when she went missing. "I think that’s why she started using again," Shelby said.

The sisters share a close bond, especially after the death of their mother, leaving them with little family support. "She’s just an amazing person, an animal lover," Shelby said. "She’s just a loving person, very caring, and all she wanted to do was do good."
