DETROIT -- Game 3 of the American League Championship Series won’t start as scheduled at 4:08 p.m. on Tuesday.
The Detroit Tigers and Seattle Mariners are tied 1-1 in the best-of-five series.
Light rain continued through most of the afternoon at Comerica Park. As of 3:50 p.m., the field remained covered by a tarp. There was no batting practice before the game, although pitchers were able to do their throwing work on the outfield grass.
Southeast Michigan enjoyed gorgeous weather while the Tigers were on a two-week road trip through Cleveland, Boston, and Seattle. But their first home game in 17 days has coincided with a cold front bringing rain and rapidly falling temperatures.
Even so, Tigers manager A.J. Hinch said there is little doubt that Tuesday’s game will eventually be played.
