MCALESTER, Okla. (KFOR) - City officials in McAlester announced on Tuesday a million-dollar partnership that is set to bring 300 jobs to the town.

According to McAlester officials, an interim development agreement has been struck with American Li-Ion regarding a new battery factory.

“This represents one of the most significant private investments in McAlester’s recent history,” Interim City Manager Ken Wimer said. “It will create high-quality jobs, strengthen our industrial base, and position McAlester as a hub for advanced manufacturing.”

Under the agreement, the City is expected to deed about 25 acres in the Steven Taylor Industrial Park and construct a new entrance to the site. In return, American Li-Ion officials are committed to creating 250 to 300 full-time jobs over five years.
