The Wayne Township School District has chosen Shenia Suggs, currently the district's assistant superintendent for human resources, as its new superintendent. She will officially take over the role on January 5, 2026.

Suggs will follow in the footsteps of long-time Wayne Township Superintendent Jeff Butts, who announced his retirement from the district's top leadership role on June 26 . Once he has transitioned Suggs into the role, he plans to lead the Indiana Association of Public School Superintendents . In Suggs' role as human resources director, she oversaw more than 2,300 employees. As superintendent, she will now be responsible for around 16,000 students as well.
