SPOKANE, Wash. — A 19-year-old motorcyclist died Monday afternoon after crashing at 90 mph while fleeing police who tried to stop him for not having license plates, according to Spokane Police Department officials.

The crash occurred at 1:22 p.m. near Nevada and St. Thomas Moore Way, police said. The motorcycle struck the rear of another vehicle after fleeing from officers who spotted it near Nevada and Francis.

Police did not pursue the motorcycle after it fled at high speed, according to SPD. Traffic investigators are investigating the crash. The motorcyclist's identity has not been released.
