SOUTH BEND, Ind. (WNDU) - Much of the conversation surrounding the Notre Dame football team since the start of the season has focused on the team’s defensive struggles.

However, the Irish defense has shown improvement in their last two games.

One name that continues to come up when talking about Notre Dame’s defense is defensive coordinator Chris Ash.

In his first year with the program after spending last season as a scout for the Jacksonville Jaguars, he has faced some early challenges.

But despite the bumps along the way, head coach Marcus Freeman remains confident in Ash, both as a coach and as a leader. Freeman believes he’s the right man to keep this defense trending in the right direction.
