ST. LOUIS COUNTY, Mo. - A University City woman is facing a theft charge after she allegedly stole a car at a St. John gas station.

According to a complaint filed by the St. John Police Department, the alleged theft happened on May 8, at the QuikTrip located on 8583 St. Charles Rock Road.

St. John Police say the victim told officials he was at the gas station to clean and fuel his vehicle, a 2014 Hyundai Accent. Officials allege that defendant Jamie Powell entered the victim’s car while he wasn’t looking and drove away.

Police caught Powell driving the Hyundai the same day it was reported stolen. When questioned about the vehicle, the complaint says Powell “admitted to stealing the car because she was tired of walking.”
