LOS ANGELES — The Colorado Avalanche has already collected an easy victory at the start of this season — best birthday present for Gavin Brindley .

Brindley turned 21 years old on Sunday. He found out he’s on the Avalanche opening-night roster Monday, and he’s in the lineup Tuesday against the Los Angeles Kings.

“It’s just surreal,” Brindley said. “It’s exciting. It’s fun. This is the best job in the world. I’m very thankful and pretty ecstatic.”
