FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WPTA) - A murder trial set to begin Tuesday was canceled after a Fort Wayne man accused in a 2017 homicide accepted a plea deal.
Fargo Bennett, 30, was set to be tried on a murder charge this week in connection with the deadly shooting of Jason Underwood, who was killed on Aug. 13, 2017, in the 1800 block of E. California Rd.
The Allen County Prosecutor’s Office says Bennett has pleaded guilty to conspiracy to commit murder resulting in death. In exchange for changing his plea, he will receive a 30-year prison sentence.
The office says Underwood’s family was present for the change of plea hearing on Tuesday and agreed with the plea offer.
