WATERBURY, Vt. (ABC22/FOX44) - Changes made in the federal "One Big Beautiful Bill Act" (OBBBA) mean that on October 1, just over 4,000 people either lost access to Vermont's food assistance program or are subject to new, stricter requirements. State officials said Tuesday that Vermont is encouraging people to call and find out what resources are still available.
The SNAP program is named 3SquaresVT in the Green Mountain State. Recipients must satisfy two sets of work requirements, the general work requirements and a second set for adults without dependents.
Changes were made to the second set this year, which mandates 80 hours of work or employment training each month, as well as a certain number of community service hours.
