Identity of stabbing victim who died under Rockford bridge revealed

ROCKFORD, Ill. — The identity of a reported stabbing victim has been revealed.

The Winnebago County Coroner's Office said that 37-year-old Kyle Stephens of Rockford, who was found under the Whitman Street Bridge on Tuesday morning , died from a stab wound.

Just before 3:30 a.m. on Tuesday, Rockford Police Officers were called to the area under the Whitman Street Bridge for a noise complaint. When they arrived, they found Stephens suffering from stab wounds.

Rockford Fire Department members rushed to the scene and tried to save Stephens's life. Despite their efforts, he was pronounced dead at 4:40 a.m.

An autopsy conducted by the Coroner's Office confirmed Stephens died from a stab wound.
