Exactly 50 years after its dedication, Riverside City Hall’s anniversary was marked by some 300 well-wishers Monday morning in a throwback ceremony.

As Mayor Patricia Lock Dawson noted from the outdoor stage, the brand new City Hall was dedicated on Oct. 6, 1975, 50 years ago to the day.

Both days were a Monday. And the original event, like this one, commenced at 11:30 a.m.

“We are 50 years to the minute of this one,” Lock Dawson declared at the outset.

Strictly speaking, this was only true if the 1975 ceremony likewise started four minutes late. But let’s not nitpick.

An easel displayed a blow-up of the 1975 and 2025 event programs side by side. Like City Hall’s repeating arches, elements were repeated too.
