ROBINSON TOWNSHIP, Pa. —

Rekesh Ehagaban, known as Rocky, was killed outside the Pittsburgh Motel in Robinson Township while trying to help during a shooting.

"He was a husband. He was a father. He was a friend. He was a true gentleman. He was someone you could count on when you needed to," said Dr. Frank Verri. Advertisement

Verri said Rocky was a close friend who always tried to help everyone. He said he spent the past several years helping those living at The Pittsburgh Motel to get permanent housing.

Police said on Friday, Rocky heard commotion outside the motel and went out to check on Stanley West, a guest at the motel.

Investigators said West had just shot a woman who fled the scene. Police said Rocky asked West if he was OK before investigators said West approached Rocky and
