RIDGEFIELD, Connecticut (WABC) -- A woman in Connecticut is charged with attempted murder and accused of trying to poison the father of her child with antifreeze.

The allegations against Kristen Hogan stunned those who live near the couple's home in Ridgefield on Tuesday.

The victim told police things took a dark turn in the home in early August after he drank a small amount of red wine. He went to bed but woke up feeling sick.

The 34-year-old called his mom and when she got there, according to court documents, he was "slurring his words, staggering and vomiting."

Once at the hospital doctors initially thought he was having a stroke, but realized he was showing signs "of an ethylene glycol poisoning which is the ingredient in liquids such as antifreeze."
