EAST CHICAGO — A domestic dispute escalated early Tuesday that resulted in a fatal stabbing in an apartment in East Chicago's North Harbor neighborhood.
The man who died, identified by the East Chicago Police Department as 25-year-old John Champion Jr., of Chicago, was charged Sept. 2 with domestic battery and resisting law enforcement. The woman who admitted to stabbing him was the victim in that case, online court records show.
The Times is not naming the 22-year-old woman who told police she stabbed Champion because while she was arrested, she has not been charged with a crime.
