DES MOINES, Iowa (KCRG) - More Iowa students are getting an early start at a future career.
Work-based learning programs are giving high school seniors hands-on experience at a time when the state has a shortage of adults in the workforce. Students in Amy Bozzard’s classroom are getting a head start on their careers.
Bozzard is the state work-based learning board President and a teacher at Boone High School.
“It’s a chance for employers to work with students, and for students to work with real-world projects, or in the workforce as far as internships are concerned, and partnerships,” said Bozzard.
She says the program gives students a test drive in careers around the community for school credit.
Through internships, paid jobs, and work experience, students in Iowa can explore careers
