Henry Stuart’s odd-looking, 14-foot concrete dome has quietly welcomed travelers from Russia, France, Germany, Taiwan, and Australia this year, standing as an unlikely landmark tucked behind a commercial office complex off U.S. 98.

Soon, it may finally be heading to its true home surrounded completely by nature.

With just over $46,000 left to raise, supporters of the so-called “hermit hut” are closing in on their goal to relocate the nearly century-old structure to the Flying Creek Nature Preserve , a tranquil 108-acre park recently opened in Fairhope.
