MINNEAPOLIS — On the same day that Texas National Guard troops arrived in the Chicago area, Illinois Gov. J.B. Pritzker said during an appearance Tuesday in Minneapolis that federal activity in his state’s largest city is “striking fear in the hearts of everyone in Chicago.”
During a 45-minute conversation with Gov. Tim Walz as part of the Minnesota Star Tribune’s North Star Summit at the Walker Art Center, Pritzker said he was hopeful a federal judge would rule in favor of his lawsuit seeking to prevent the Trump administration from out-of-state mobilizing troops to Illinois. The Trump administration has argued that more resources are needed in places like Chicago to crack down on crime and protect federal agents working for agencies such as Immigration and Customs Enforcement.
