SPOKANE, Wash. – Spokane Police Department (SPD) took a 57-year-old into custody on Sunday, October 5, for his alleged involvement in a violent assault at the Browne Street viaduct.

The incident, which occurred on Wednesday afternoon, left a man in critical condition after being doused in gasoline and set on fire.

He was initially transported to a local hospital and later flown to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle.

Detectives, while searching for the suspect, said they worked with limited information due to the severity of the victim’s injuries, which hindered his ability to provide details.

However, with assistance from the Seattle Police Department, enough evidence was gathered to make an arrest, SPD said in a release .
