NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) - The Metro Nashville Police Department is investigating the murder of a 74-year-old woman who was found dead in her home on Monday morning.

Police said Harriet Edwards was found dead at about 9 a.m. in her home on Chateau Valley Court in North Nashville.

An autopsy revealed that Edwards, who lived alone, died as a result of strangulation and also received blunt force injuries to her head.

“The victim was found Monday morning on her bed by a longtime friend who had not heard from her in several days. A neighbor told investigators that she last saw Edwards on Friday,” MNPD said.

Detectives believe the murder took place between the hours of 2:30 and 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
