FAIRHOPE, Ala. (WKRG) — A downtown Fairhope landmark is coming down, the old Fairhope Hardware store is set to be demolished within the next two weeks and that means one of Fairhope's most recognizable murals will soon be gone too.
It's one of the most photographed spots in downtown Fairhope. The colorful mural is on the side of the former Fairhope Hardware building off Fairhope Avenue and North Church Street.
"I first painted it in 1997 and it's been nice to just see how much people have liked it and still to this day, walking by it," mural artist America Tickle said. "It's a piece that people recognize as part of this community."
