MOBILE, Ala. (WKRG) — A Mobile mother is sharing a warning after her son was hospitalized in critical condition from what she says was long-term nitrous oxide abuse.

30-year-old Cody Neese is in intensive care at Ascension Sacred Heart Pensacola, sedated on a ventilator after suffering massive blood clots in his lungs. His mother, Andrea Neese, says doctors told her the underlying cause was years of inhaling nitrous oxide, also known as “whippits.”

“The doctors have told us at Sacred Heart and at USA that the underlying cause of this was the pure nitrous oxide that he was abusing,” said Andrea Neese.
