One person was fatally shot and one other was injured in an incident on Tuesday afternoon that prompted a lockdown of Steelton-Highspire district schools.

About a half-dozen police cars had a block of South 4th Street shut down at Locust Street in Steelton. A police helicopter could be seen overhead.

Around the same time as the shooting, a standoff was unfolding a couple of blocks away, at a residence in the 100 block of South 2nd Street, near the intersection with Swatara Street.

Officers were seen with rifles in front of and behind a home, and several drones were observed in the vicinity of what appeared to be a standoff.

A K9 entered the residence around 4:30.

Police began to leave around 6 p.m. No one was seen coming out of the residence.
