COLUMBIA, S.C. (WIS) - Columbia Police Department said they are investigating after a body was found Tuesday night on the Columbia side of the Congaree River.
The police department said in a statement on X that a body was found by kayakers on the banks near Wheat Street around 6 p.m.
At this time, they have not shared any details regarding the identity of the body, only that they are a male.
The Richland County Coroner’s Office is assisting in CPD’s investigation and will be performing an autopsy tomorrow. The Columbia Fire Department is also helping to remove the body from the banks.
