ROBERSONVILLE, N.C. (WITN) - The town of Robersonville in Martin County is mourning the loss of one of its councilmembers.

Councilwoman Chiquita Ward passed away last Tuesday at the age of 33.

She was elected to the council in 2019.

Mayor Tina Ward posted on social media, " It is with great sadness that we announce and honor the passing of our beloved and devoted colleague, Councilwoman Chiquita Ward. Our thoughts and prayers are with her family, friends and constituents at this difficult time."

Visitation will take place this Thursday from 3:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Congleton Funeral Home and Cremations in Greenville, and again on Friday from 11:00 a.m. until noon. A celebration of life is set for Friday at noon at Koinonia Christian Center Church in Greenville.
