TRAVERSE CITY — The implementation of out-of-district tuition rates at Northwestern Michigan College (NMC) has played a major role in the growth of the school’s dual enrollment program, allowing high school students the opportunity to earn college credit at no cost to their families while local school districts cover the tuition.

As a result, 544 high school students are currently enrolled in NMC’s early college program—a 13% increase compared to fall of 2024.

In addition to coursework, NMC supports dual-enrolled and early college students with resources to help them succeed in a college environment. This includes support when it comes to applying to college, registering for classes, visiting office hours, and learning how to access academic support services.
