The city of Boulder’s city manager’s office is eliminating six positions as it restructures divisions in the office of city manager Nuria Rivera-Vandermyde to focus on Sundance Film Festival preparations, the city announced in a Monday news release.

Beginning in January 2026, the Community Vitality Department will be dissolved and in its place will be a division called Cultural and Economic Development, or CED. Much of the staff from the Community Vitality Department will transition to the CED, and some will go to other departments.

On eliminating six positions, the city says that “city leadership is committed to working with these employees in hopes of filling vacancies that match their (skillsets) and interests in other departments.”
