AFFTON — Alice Vogel wants another chance.

So does her Cor Jesu Academy softball teammate Grace Rasmussen.

The veteran duo feels the Chargers did not put their best foot forward in a trip to the Class 4 state tournament last fall.

The Affton-based private school dropped a pair of one-sided decisions in its fourth final four appearance.

"We'd like to show we're better than that," said Vogel, a junior pitcher.

Added Rasmussen, "Everyone would agree, it wasn't what we're capable of doing."

The Chargers might just get another opportunity to flash their skills on the brightest of stages.

Vogel tossed a four-hitter and Rasmussen reached base three times to lead Cor Jesu to a 2-0 win over Lutheran South on Tuesday in a nonconference contest at the Affton Athletic Association.
