BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) -- The Kern High School District board meeting brought a small group of concerned parents and community members to express their opposition to transgender athletes in women’s sports.
The meeting comes after Bakersfield Christian High School recently forfeited a women’s volleyball game against Ridgeview High over a transgender athlete being on the team.
Local pastor, Angelo Frashier, explained why he wanted to voice his thoughts at the meeting.
"We are here to stand up for Title IX. We don’t believe that boys should be in women’s sports," he said. "This is about the fairness of sports. Men should not be playing with women and women should not be playing with men.”
