SARATOGA SPRINGS — City officials on Tuesday night announced a $61.37 million proposed spending plan for 2026 that would include an employee hiring freeze and a 2.02% property tax increase, which could go as high as 4.53%.
“The issues that we as a city, as a region, as a country, are facing is rising costs,” city Finance Commissioner Minita Sanghvi said, introducing the proposal Tuesday night. “Salaries, health insurance, retirement, liability insurance and capital expenses. These are the five major costs that have contributed to our budget increases since 2022. I don’t think we have seen this kind of inflation, these kind of increases in a long time.”
