The Oklahoma Transportation Commission has approved delays for 240 road projects because inflation has driven costs outside the available budget.
The delays will impact $1.5 billion in projects already approved, and according to the Director of ODOT, all of them important.
"Those projects are still a priority; they are still projects that need to be done. It's just going to take us a little while longer to get to those projects," said Tim Gatz, speaking before the Commission on Monday.
In Northeast Oklahoma, 57 projects, costing $213 million, will be delayed by at least a year, with some pushed years longer into the future. It includes a one-year delay in bids for the 81st and U.S. Highway 75 interchange rebuild, which were scheduled to go out in 2026.
