Political newcomers Shaun McMillan and Rodney E. Garvin will move on to the general election in the Fayetteville City Council District 8 race, according to unofficial primary election results.
The other candidate vying for the open seat, in addition to the top two vote-getters, was Mahmoud A. (Travis) Hamed.
According to the unofficial results, McMillan had 807 votes, or 73.5% of the vote; Garvin had 223 votes, or 20.31% of the vote; and Hamed had 45 votes, or 4.1% of the vote.
