Dozens of people gathered Tuesday night to remember 15-year-old Ka’Ryah Duncan, who was shot and killed during an ambush in a Cocoa parking lot just over 24 hours earlier.
Friends, family, and community members released balloons and embraced one another at the vigil, held near the site of the shooting on busy Clearlake Road.
“I’m not keeping it together. I’m not,” said Ashley Pratt, Ka’Ryah’s mother. “It’s been hell. This is the second child that I’ve lost. I haven’t gotten any answers to today.”
Pratt described her daughter as funny and special, saying Ka’Ryah loved to dance, listen to music, and blog.
She said her daughter was with her boyfriend and a friend at the time of the shooting and doesn’t believe Ka’Ryah was the intended target.
