Tuesday's runoff election results for the Birmingham City Council and the Birmingham School Board favored incumbents, except for J.T. Moore, who was defeated.

Additionally, local BLM activist Eric Hall, who had previously lost a bid for city council, was defeated by the largest margin of any candidate in the runoff election.

With 99% of the polls reporting, WBRC showed in the race for City Council District 4, Brian Gunn defeated incumbent J.T. Moore, getting 68% (676 votes) of the vote to Moore's 32% (323 votes).

In the open seats for District 8, Sonja Smith defeated April Myers Williams 66% to 44% to replace Councilor Carol E. Clarke, who did not seek reelection.
