JEFFERSON TOWNSHIP, Ohio (WJW) - A North Ridgeville woman has died after a serious crash that happened in Tuscarawas County more than a week ago.

According to the Ohio State Highway Patrol, the crash happened around 11:15 a.m. on Sept. 26 along Interstate 77 in Jefferson Township.

Investigators said a Kia Sorento driver was heading south on I-77 when he went off the left side of the roadway and hit an embankment in the median. He then went back onto the interstate but overturned, causing the vehicle to strike a guardrail.

Both the driver and a passenger were taken by ambulance to Mercy Medical Center. The driver was wearing a seat belt, but the passenger was not, OSHP said.
