The Vancouver Canucks were always going to have trouble keeping Artūrs Šilovs this season. For a portion of fans, news that he was starting in goal tonight for the Pittsburgh Penguins will still come with an “I told you so.”
The guy who turned the Abbotsford Centre into an Arty Party on a regular basis last spring with his play in the AHL playoffs for the Abbotsford Canucks got the call in the Penguins’ net over veteran Tristan Jarry for an opening night matchup with the New York Rangers at Madison Square Garden.
Pittsburgh coach Dan Muse told the media in New York: “Šilovs had a good camp. We’re going to be looking at both Artūrs and Tristan to come up big early this season.”
