SOUTH LYON – Coming into the 2025 prep season, the South Lyon East volleyball program knew it might have a special freshman on its hands.

Outside hitter Lexi Coleman had built up a reputation on the national club scene as one of the best in the country in her class.

Despite that buzz, it can be tough to put lofty expectations on a first-year varsity player.

But, Coleman has been proving for weeks that the buzz was warranted, and she showed why she could be in line for a historic prep career again on Tuesday when she led the Cougars to a 25-22, 25-23, 25-11 win over rival South Lyon in a key Lakes Valley Conference clash.

Coleman, a 6-footer with a lot of power in her attacks, put down 30 kills to propel the Cougars to the win and force a tie atop the LVC standings.
