SALISBURY — “This was a success all around,” said Daniel Wiley, music director of the Salisbury Symphony Orchestra as he spoke about the opportunity for them to perform a Young People’s Concert for all of the Rowan-Salisbury School fifth graders.
Two concerts were held at Catawba College’s Keppel Auditorium on Oct. 7, one at 10 a.m. and the other at 11:40 a.m., totaling an estimated 1,100 students, said Elizabeth Cook, education director for the Salisbury Symphony.
This event has been a longstanding tradition, she said, but this was the first time that the local symphony has presented the Young People’s Concert, as Cook said, “historically it’s been the North Carolina Symphony” presenting the concert.
