NEW YORK — The symbolism of the moment was not lost on Penguins coach Dan Muse, with three franchise pillars lining up next to a pair of exciting young players.

Sidney Crosby, Evgeni Malkin and Kris Letang stood together again on the blue line at Madison Square Garden during the national anthem for the start of what could be the last dance for the longest-running trio in the history of American pro sports.

Right next to them were Ben Kindel and Harrison Brunicke, a pair of talented teenagers who were about to jointly make their NHL debuts. Brunicke was just a baby when the Big Three played their first NHL game together. Kindel was not even born yet.

In that brief moment, two generations of Penguins players stood together as one.
