A police procedural crime drama titled Santosh which received acclaimed has been denied certification for theatrical release in India with the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) objecting its depiction of police brutality, caste discrimination, and misogyny.

Written and directed by British-Indian filmmaker Sandhya Suri, Santosh is about a young widow who joins the police force and investigates the murder of a Dalit girl. While the theatrical release didn’t happen in India, Santosh is now set to thrill OTT viewers. The movie will be available for streaming from October 17 on Lionsgate Play.
