Nithari killings case: The Supreme Court on Tuesday reserved its judgment on a curative petition filed by Surendra Koli, who was convicted in Nithari killings in 2005-2006. Koli was sentenced to death for the murder and rape of a 15-year-old girl. His conviction was upheld by the Supreme Court in 2011, and a review plea was dismissed in 2014. However, in recent years, the Allahabad High Court acquitted him in 12 other cases linked to the Nithari murders, which the top court described as an “anomalous situation.”
