The National Weather Service issued a freeze watch at 1:20 a.m. on Wednesday valid from Thursday 11 p.m. until Friday 9 a.m. for Onondaga, Tompkins, Madison, Oneida and Cortland counties.

The weather service adds to expect, "Temperatures will fall into the 20s and low 30s Thursday night into early Friday morning."

"Frost and freeze conditions could kill crops, other sensitive vegetation and possibly damage unprotected outdoor plumbing. Frost could harm sensitive outdoor vegetation. Sensitive outdoor plants may be killed if left uncovered," states the weather service. "Take steps now to protect tender plants from the cold."
