A golf course can be a really lonely place.
Acres and acres of rolling hills and dotted trees can break sight lines and give off the feeling that the golfer has the entire course to themselves, further compounding the individualistic nature of golf.
Fruita Monument High School senior Collin Black truly was alone on Tuesday afternoon as the only Wildcat golfer to qualify for the Class 5A State Tournament, being played this week at Bookcliff Country Club. If playing alone bothered him, the senior hardly showed it Tuesday as he embarked on a solo tour de force that ultimately landed him in the state tournament’s top 10.
“He was playing for Collin Black today,” Wildcat coach Dave Fox said.
