The New York State Thruway Authority, which operates the span across the Hudson, has joined the Audubon Society's " Lights Out " program in which lights are dimmed by municipalities, buildings and bridges during peak bird migration seasons.
The bridge's lights will be dimmed from 11 p.m. to dawn during peak migration periods, Thruway Authority Executive Director Frank Hoare said, "as part of our commitment to environmental stewardship while ensuring this iconic landmark continues to serve the community safely and responsibly.”
