A 22-year-old Indian national, allegedly fighting for the Russian army, was reportedly captured by Ukrainian forces.

The Indian government has not yet confirmed his detention. Officials are verifying reports identifying him as Majoti Sahil Mohamed Hussein, a resident of Morbi, Gujarat.

Details of the Alleged Capture

Hussein reportedly went to Russia to study at a university.

While serving a sentence on drug-related charges, he was offered a contract with the Russian military to reduce his imprisonment.

He accepted the contract and received 16 days of military training.

On October 1, he was deployed on his first combat mission.
